A TEACHABLE SPIRIT "For I have
chosen himn, in order that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness
and justice..." Genesis 18:19
Lee Iacocca in his book, STRAIGHT TALK, shows how
he was able to balance his life in work and fainly, He writes, "My parents spent a lot of time with me and I wanted my
kids to be treated with as much love and care as I got. There's always the excuse of work to get in the way of the
family. I saw how some of the guys at Ford lived their lives - - weekends merely meant two more days at the office. That wasn't
my idea of family life. I spent all my weekends with the kids and all my vacations. Kathi was on the swim team for seven years,
and I never missed a meet. Then there were tennis matches. I made all of them. And piano recitals. I made all of them
too. I was always afraid that if I missed one, Kathi might finish first or finish last and I would hear about it secondhand
and not be there to congratulate - or console-her." We have to make many choices in each 24-hour day. We establish
what's important by reconfirming day by day what's of value to us. Our scripture today helps us realize that as children
of God we have been chosen and are directed by Him to do what is right and just. Determine if God is giving you specif
directions for raising your children.
